Objects with the same Mass and Velocity

[poll id=”144″]

ANSWER: A. Momentum

Objects with the same mass and velocity mean they will have the same value for their momentum, as momentum is measured via: mass x velocity. Such questions are VERY common on the OAT, that test your ability conceptually, by simply understanding what momentum consists of, one could easily understand the question. It also tests your ability to overlook irrelevant information (such as the value of the mass of the objects) which can confuse students. Do NOT be expected to perform long, time consuming solutions in the physics section of the OAT (rarely). The physics OAT has been documented by many students to be very concept heavy, and if math is required, it is very short. It is all about knowing when to apply what and where.
